Jimmie Kaufman

Jimmie Lee Kaufman, 75, of Eudora, died peacefully in his home, surrounded by family on Wednesday, June 8, 2016.

Jimmie was born March 8, 1941 in Dorrance, Kansas, where he grew up. He proudly served in the Army for 2 years before being medically discharged. He moved to Lawrence and then Eudora in his early 20s. He worked in the oil fields and then retired from KU in 2003.

Jimmie was preceded in death by both of his parents, William and Minnie Kaufman and his sister, Janet Reynolds. He is survived by his wife of nearly 48 years, Opal Kaufman, two sons, Shane, Eudora, and Stacy (Adriane) and precious granddaughter, Mia of Knoxville, TN, brother Merle (Linda) Kaufman of Dodge City, sister Joyce (Dean) Langhofer of Dorrance, and many loving nieces and nephews.

Jimmie was a lifelong K State fan, who loved going to the football games and made many close friends there. He was also a member of the American Legion Dorsey-Liberty Post #14 for over 50 years.

The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 12 2016 with visitation beforehand, beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Warren-McElwain Mortuary- Eudora Chapel. Burial will follow at Eudora Cemetery. We encourage everyone who comes to the service to wear their favorite K-State gear, your favorite team’s colors or something purple. Jimmie always loved sports.

In lieu of flowers, please make any contributions to Crossroads Hospice, who did an amazing job making him comfortable and helping the family in his last few weeks. Memorials may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

    I am so shocked and saddened to see this. I was reprimanding myself for looking at Facebook again but am glad that I did. My sincerest sympathy.
