Merle C. Frye

Funeral service for Merle C. Frye, 91, McLouth will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 5, 2014 at McLouth Church of the Nazarene. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence. She died August 30, 2014 at Hickory Pointe in Oskaloosa, KS.

Merle was born on December 25, 1922 in Davenport, Oklahoma the daughter of the Reverend Franklin and Annie Belle (Parrish) DeBoard.

Merle worked for Northwestern Insurance Company in Fort Scott, KS. She was a die-cut operator at Hallmark Cards for many years. She later ran an in home daycare for many years in Lawrence. Merle was a member of the McLouth Church of the Nazarene.

She married Lyle V. Frye on October 27, 1942 in Newark, Ohio. He survives of the home. Other survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Bond, Rural Lecompton, Cindy Pennel, Rural Oskaloosa; son, David Frye and wife, Debi, Oskaloosa; 13 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, Edward DeBoard and three sisters, Lois Ferguson, Eunice Buck and Geraldine Simpson.

The family will greet friends Thursday, September 4, 2014 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. A visitation will also be held on Friday 30 minutes prior to the service at the church in McLouth.

Memorial contributions may be sent in her name to the McLouth Church of the Nazarene and may be sent in care of the mortuary.

    What a party in heaven for your mom! She’s running down the streets of gold and having a great conversation with her Jesus. It’s a happy day for her! Unfortunately for those left here we grieve for the loss. Just remember how happy she is.

    Sending prayers to all of the family for their loss. I knew the Fryes for many years. They were wonderful people in our church.
