Graveside service for Sarah D. Poteet Gouby, 93, Lawrence will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 12, 2015 at Floral Hills Cemetery in Kansas City, MO. Sarah passed away Friday, October 9, 2015 at Brandon Woods at Alvamar.
Sarah was born June 11, 1922 in Kansas City, MO the daughter of Seyforth and Helen Frances (O’Conner) Thomas.
She worked at Hercules ammunition plant and then worked at Remington Arms Manufacturing until she retired.
She was married to Bob Poteet for 41 years until he preceded her in death. She later married Fred Gouby and was married to him for five years until he preceded her in death.
She is survived by her two sons Ray Poteet and wife, Imy, Lawrence, Bobby Poteet, Alvin, TX; eight grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; and sister, Anna Pauline Katz, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Edith Ruth Conkling; one sister, Hellen Agnew; and brothers, Randolf Thomas and Seyforth Thomas.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Mustard Seed Church and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
Dear Family of Sarah’s: We share with you in the loss of Sarah who we really enjoyed seeing at church along with many of you. We enjoyed Grandparent’s Day when she stood tall when asked if there were any great, great grandparents. She will be missed but she is home now with all those who have gone before her and now she is free of her old body which just wore out.
