Ruth Ann, 90 was a bright, inspiring and caring person who had a positive influence on everyone she knew. Born in Kansas City, MO she earned nursing and education degrees from KU and UMKC. Her career as an educator spanned the faculties of Avila, KU and St. Luke’s schools of nursing. Ruth was also a nursing consultant, Stephen minister, church deacon and served on the Panel of American Women seeking to eliminate racial and religious discrimination in the early 60s.
In retirement, she enjoyed needlepoint, reading and KU basketball.
She is preceded in death by a husband (Ken) and daughter (Michelle). Survivors include: daughter, Sheila (Larry), son, Kevin (Vicki), a stepson, nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the charity of your choice and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13 th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.
