Alexander B. Perez

Alexander B. Perez, 82, passed peacefully from this earth on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at his home in Lawrence, Kansas.  A Visitation followed by Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 1234 Kentucky St., Lawrence, Kansas. Visitation will last from 1:30 pm until 2:15 pm, when a Rosary Recitation will begin prior to the Funeral Mass at 2:30 pm. Private burial will be held at a later date.

Alexander Perez, also called Pysie by those who loved him, was born in Topeka, KS, the son of Eustacio and Elvira (Balandran) Perez.  He married Bertha (Barajas) Perez in 1970. Together they raised two sons, Mark and Adrian.  Alex was a railroad man, working as a Freight Carman Mechanic at Burlington, Northern & Santa Fe for his entire career.

Alex was an avid sports fan and fisherman. He was a collector of all things and a jack of all trades. He was most comfortable around a fire, with a good cigar, telling stories with family. He was as doting grandfather and gentleman. Quick to give up his seat or offer you a drink, it was always a treat if you got to see his dance moves. He enjoyed life, family, and could be quite the joker.

Alexander is preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Cecilia Gomez.  He is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Bertha Perez. Other survivors include his loving sons, Mark (Tara) Perez, Adrian (Allison) Perez, his five grandchildren Aiden, Ronan, Corbin, Contessa, and Brogan, and his only brother, Andrew Perez.
