Graveside services for Allen Clyde Toshavik, 75, Lawrence, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 23, 2020 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence. Allen passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2020 at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, KS.

Allen will lie in state from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.

Allen was born on November 30, 1944 in Unalakleet, Alaska, the son of Jennie Sarren.

He attended school in Mt. Edcumbe in Sitka, Alaska and came to Lawrence, KS. There he went to school and graduated from Haskell Indian Institution in 1966. He then became a plumber. He was also in the Army Reserves. He worked for Concho Indian School and lived in El Reno, Oklahoma. There he was maintenance-plumber for a school. He then returned to Haskell Indian Jr. College and worked as a plumber for the school. He retired from Haskell. Allen lived a great life in Lawrence, Kansas and Gardner, Kansas.

Allen worked on fishing boats in Alaska to assist the family cannery and boats. He also enjoyed hunting, trapping and fishing. He built houses all over in Oklahoma and Kansas. He was a part of a group of Natives that built homes for others as a side job.

He married Beverly Ann Worcester in Lookeba, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death.

Survivors include his three daughters, Claudia Sims Toshavik, Regina Faye Toshavik, Jenny King; son, Ira Toshavik, Gardner, KS and two sisters, Dorothy and Ethel; 12 grandchildren, Allen Toshavik, Justin Free, Miranda Free, Nadia Taylor, Ashley Riley, Kindra Toshavik, Hailey Toshavik, Charnell Revely, Canyon Toshavik, Justin King, Alan Augare, Dawson Brown; 32 great grandchildren and two great-great grandsons. He was preceded in death by three children, his grandparents, Shafter & Ethel Toshavik; mother, Jennie Sarren; sister, Carrie Tashovik; auntie, Selma Toshavik; uncle, Earl Toshavik; uncle, Carl Toshavik; grandson, Allen Axel Toshavik and son-in-law, Eugene C. Sims.
