Angela Ann Leonard, 53, of Eudora, Kansas, passed away on May 11, 2026, at Medicalodges of Eudora. Angela was born on May 31, 1972, in Lawrence, KS, to Kirby and Arletta Anders.
She will be remembered for her strong will, independent spirit, and remarkable ability to spring into action when needed. Raised on a small farm South of Eudora, she carried with her a deep sense of resilience, humor, and determination throughout her life. Family stories often reflected her spirited personality, including the time she tagged along with her older brother, Dale, and his prom date for dinner, or the CB radio handle she proudly answered to as a little girl, “Angel Baby.”
She possessed a tremendous memory and a sharp eye for detail, especially when it came to bookkeeping and billing. Those who knew her knew she noticed everything and rarely forgot anything. She was hardworking and resourceful, traits that showed themselves early in life. As a young woman, she made history as the first person in Kansas to win all three livestock species — sheep, cattle, and pigs — at the same county fair in the same year, under three different judges on three different days, an accomplishment she carried with pride.
Her instincts were quick and fearless. She loved to tell the story of jumping from a truck while pregnant to chase down piglets after livestock racks blew open along I-70, determined to protect them as they huddled together for warmth. It was the kind of story that perfectly captured her grit and determination.
She also believed deeply in encouraging growth and confidence in her children. Through 4-H, she inspired her children to participate in public speaking, presentations, and leadership activities, recognizing the value those experiences could bring later in life. Alongside her toughness was an appreciation for simple joys like fishing, searching for hidden treasures at thrift stores and farm sales, admiring hibiscus flowers, and sharing the stories that connected generations of family together.
She will be remembered for her individuality, perseverance, and the lasting impact she had on the people and community around her.
She was the sister to Dale (Sonya) Anders, Chapman, KS; mother to Justin Leonard, Overland Park, KS, and Allie Leonard (Brad), Eudora, KS; grandma to Ryker Muncy (7), Riley Solis (6), Kinzey Solis (5), Rowan Muncy (4), and Wrenley Leonard (6 mo.); aunt to Austin Anders, Aaron (MiKayla) Anders, Augustus (Kristen) Anders. Preceding Angela is her mother, Arletta Anders.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to her memorial fund that will benefit young 4-Hers through the Douglas County 4-H Foundation. https://everloved.com/life-of/angela-leonard/
