Funeral services for Ayla Marie Dawn Vesecky, 22, Baldwin City will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, January 31, 2014 at First Christian Church in Lawrence. Burial will follow at Stony Point Cemetery in Rural Baldwin City. She passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at home. She lived longer than expected with non-ketotic hyperglycemia.

Ayla was born November 5, 1991 in Johnson, KS the daughter of William and Joanna (Carter) Vesecky.

She graduated from Baldwin High School in 2010.

She was a member of the First Christian Church.

Ayla’s mother writes… “Ayla was born November 5, 1991 during a blizzard. She was perfect when she was born then she went to sleep. She stayed in a coma until my birthday which is November 21st. That day she opened her eyes and took her first breathe by herself. That was the best birthday ever.

Ayla has been fighting a battle that her doctors said she could not fight. The doctors said she would never leave the hospital and the guaranteed me she would never live past 5. Ayla never liked being told what she couldn’t do. I believe she made it her life’s goal to prove all the doctors wrong.

Ayla had a great smile and a funny laugh. She loved being around her brother and sisters. She would light up when they came in the room.

Ayla taught us to love unconditionally, to have patience, and to NEVER give up. She taught us that God is the one in control and he has a plan for us all.

Ayla’s smile would brighten your day and lighten your heavy heart.

Ayla touched many lives and showed us all the world through her eyes.

We believe Ayla was an Angel sent here to teach us all about love and life.

Her job here on earth is done and she is watching over all of us.

Until we meet again. We love you and thank you for picking our family.”

Survivors include her parents; two sisters, Holly and Lacey, of the home; one brother, Dalton, of the home; grandparents, John and Sharon Vesecky, Baldwin City, Henry Carter, Temple, TX; Elmer and Shirley Schmidt, Ulyses, KS; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
