Barbara Bernice Knisely Gaeddert was born on March 29, 1942 the daughter of Orson W. Knisely and Bernice Varner Knisely and passed away on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at Pioneer Ridge Assisted Living in Lawrence.
Barb attended the Sandusky Public Schools in Ohio and graduated from Oberlin College in Ohio with a Bachelor’s of Arts in 1964 and went on to graduate from Western Reserve University School of Library Science in Cleveland, OH with a MSLS in 1965.
She was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church in Lawrence.
Barbara’s lifetime hobbies and interests included enjoying cats, sewing, reading, family history, classical music, and travel.
Her career included positions at the Deere & Company Corporate Library in Moline, IL, Northwestern State College of Louisiana in Natchitoches, LA, University of Iowa Libraries in Iowa City, IA, and the University of Kansas Libraries. She was the author of several articles in library journals.
She is survived by friends and cousins.
She married her husband, William Kenneth Gaeddert in July 1967. He preceded her in death on May 7, 2019. They were married 51 years. She was also preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 9, 2021 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Burial will be held at a later date at Beulah Cemetery in Colby KS.
Memorial contributions may be made in Barbara’s name to a charity of donor’s choice and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.
