Funeral service for Bernard Eugene Fordice, 89, Lawrence will be held 2 p.m. Monday, December 14, 2009, at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Private inurnment will take place at a later date. Mr. Fordice died December 10, 2009, at his home.
He was born October 24, 1920, in Smith Center, KS the son of Russell Harrison and Eunice (Parnell) Fordice.
The family moved to the Topeka area in 1936. Mr. Fordice graduated from Seaman High School in Topeka. He was a Douglas County farmer and dairyman in the Lakeview area all his life. Mr. Fordice was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
He married Vada Marie Zachariesen on August 11, 1944. She died October 7, 1992. He married Geri Kueker on September 10, 1994, in Lawrence. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include a daughter, Dawn Fordice Pawley, Las Vegas; two step-daughters, Barbara Nonken, Lawrence, and Bonnie Neis, Eudora; a step-son, John Bartling, Kansas City, KS; two sisters, Willna Zweifel, Topeka and Doris Davis, Topeka; three step-grandchildren and one step great-grandson.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Immanuel Lutheran Church Building Fund and sent in care of the mortuary.
The family will greet friends from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, December 13, at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
