Bertha Morgison

Mass of Christian Burial for Bertha “Bert” Morgison, 86, Lawrence, KS will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 15, 2026, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lawrence. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Bert passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at her home in Lawrence, KS.

Bert was born February 7, 1940, Green, Kansas the daughter of John and Clara (Baker) Yeager. Bert graduated from Green High School. She worked as a nurses aid at Clay County Hospital where she met Arnold “Arnie” Morgison, they married on November 12, 1958. The couple moved to Lawrence in 1964, Bert worked as a babysitter and an Avon Representative and also worked for Aeroquip on the assembly line and Pines International.

Bert was a member of the St. John’s Catholic Church, and the Daughters of Isabella. She attended numerous car shows with Arnie, she enjoyed cooking, gardening, and baking. She owned Bert’s Fine Candies and would sell out at craft shows of peanut brittle, pies of all kinds, fudge, divinity, carmel and cinnamon corn and cinnamon candy in no time. She enjoyed collecting dimes, so she could honestly say, “I never spend a dime.”

Family members who have preceded Bert in death are her husband, Arnie, her parents, John and Clara Yeager, two sisters, Elvira Riegel and Lola Dugan, her son, Sheldon Morgison and great-grandson, Benedict Ford.

Survivors include her children, Kevin D. Morgison (Jill) Eudora, KS, Keith E. Morgison (Linda) Lawrence, KS, Patricia “Patty” R. McGuire (Larry) Lawrence, KS; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and her sister, Lois Tobyne.

A Rosary will be recited at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Warren-McElwain Mortuary with the visitation to follow until 7:00 p.m.
