Bettie Charlene Wilson, 74, a cherished resident of Lawrence, Kansas, passed away on November 21, 2024, at St. Luke’s Hospice House, Kansas City, MO. She leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and service.

She was born on May 15, 1950 in West Hollywood, CA to  Adelaide Lucille “Searle” Wilson Creath and Charles Francis Wilson (both deceased). Her life was a testament to hard work and compassion, values she instilled in her family. Bettie’s professional journey was diverse, spanning roles in the medical field, sales, and hospitality, including positions as a nail technician, bartender, housekeeper, and office manager at Adam’s Chiropractic. She was affectionately known as the “Dairy Fairy” during her time at Dillons. Her passion for helping others was evident in her role as a Chaplain at Unity of Lawrence.

Bettie’s greatest pride was her family, celebrating their achievements in education and careers. Her vibrant spirit and love for people were evident in her willingness to help and her dedication to finding homes for unwanted items, benefiting organizations like the Humane Society, 100 Good Women and local schools. She also made it clear in the weeks leading up to her passing that she wanted to donate her pacemaker and any viable tissues. These items will benefit others through the University of Michigan, Frankel Cardiovascular Center and the Midwest Transplant Network.

An avid traveler, Bettie embarked on numerous adventures, creating cherished memories with her children and friends. Her travels included epic road trips, beach campouts, and recent journeys to California, Kauai, and Montana for her granddaughter Coral’s graduation.

Bettie’s commitment to her community was unwavering. At Unity of Lawrence, she served as a chaplain, custodian, and kitchen goddess, touching many lives with her kindness, generosity and spirit of service.

Bettie is survived by her wife, Catherine L. Moreland of the home; daughters Deena M. Wilson (Barrett “Buzz” Belt), Lawrence, KS and Kimberly D. Eder (Mark), Red Lodge, MT; grandchildren Jacob Wilson-Kloster (Emma), Violet Belt and Coral Eder; Nieces and Nephews Lisa Bailey (Matthew), Rei Reid, Derek Bailey and Kegan Bailey; as well as many cousins, bonus family members and friends.
