Betty J. Calhoun

Memorial services for Betty J. Calhoun, 89, Lawrence will be held Noon, Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Christ Community Church in Lawrence. Graveside services will follow at a later date in the North Platte, NE City Cemetery. She passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Betty was born May 26, 1928 in North Platte, NE, the daughter of Farrell and Sarah Fae (Abercrombie) McGovern.

She received her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from the University of Nebraska-Kearney.

Betty was a member of Christ Community Church, Alpha Delta Kappa, and a member of The Elks Club (BPOE) where she was a past president.

She was a teacher at Adams Middle School in North Platte, NE for 25 years until she retired in 1994. She loved playing the piano, crocheting, playing bridge, travel, and Nebraska Football.

Survivors include her two daughters, Connie Cook, Lawrence, KS, Kelley Calhoun, Laurel, NE; two sons, Marty Calhoun, North Platte, NE, Jim Calhoun, North Platte, NE; nine grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.

Memorial Contributions may be made in her name to The American Heart Association and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
