Betty was born on December 18, 1942 in Ft. Scott, KS, the daughter of Raymond and Cecile (Leffler) Streeter.

Known for getting things done, Betty was involved in numerous activities and organizations over the years. She was a former member of the Lion’s Club, National Letter Carriers Union Auxiliary, and Douglas County Trail Riders, just to name a few. Even while residing at the Care Center she was a true leader, and served as president of the Resident Council for VI years. She was also a member of the Worden United Methodist Church and occasionally attended Grace United Methodist Church when she lived in Topeka.

Betty was most at home in the kitchen and everyone benefitted. There isn’t a person who can’t name a favorite food or dessert made by Betty. Her Rueben’s, Chicken and Noodles, Peach butter, peanut brittle, cinnamon candy and mayonnaise cake top the list. She truly enjoyed cooking, baking, canning, gardening. She shook up the dust on any dance floor and loved to sing, despite how off key she was. Nothing was more important to Betty than family. She loved her family with all her heart and she made every friend feel like family. Whether it was the huge 4 th of July picnic she hosted, a family dinner after church on Sunday, Bingo at the Care Center, or even the casino, Betty lit up the room with her warmth and laughter and she will be sorely missed by all.

She married David McCrary in April 1960. They later divorced. She then married Dale Steenbock on February 24, 1995. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include her daughter, Theresa (Kenneth) Bateson, Eudora, Margaret (Sean) Hadle, Dodge City, KS; son, George (Cheryl) McCrary, Baldwin City, KS; stepchildren, Randy (Brenda) Steenbock, Topeka, Rick (Michelle) Steenbock, Colorado, Dusty Steenbock, Topeka; six grandchildren, David Bateson, Eudora, Kaylin McCrary, Raymore, MO, Madeline McCrary, Baldwin City; John Hadle, Minnesota, Katy Hadle, Minnesota, Kourtney (Nick) Larmer, Dodge City; two sisters, Anna Mae Berndt, Topeka, Ruthie Hatfield, Lawrence; brother, Raymond Streeter, Ft.
