Memorial services for Bill Joe Dymacek, 76, Eudora, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 11, 2019, at Plymouth Congregational Church in Lawrence. Private family inurnment will be at Eudora Cemetery. Bill passed away Friday, December 6, 2019, at his home.
Bill was born January 10, 1943, in Wichita, KS, the son of Joseph Edward and Wilma Maude (Law) Dymacek.
He received his Bachelor’s of Arts from Southwestern College in Winfield, KS and his Master’s in Science from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, AZ.
He was a teacher in school district USD 231 until he retired in 2001.
He was a member of the Middle America Paleontology Society and a retired member of KNEA and NEA. Bill is listed in the Who’s Who in American Teachers and was the Earth Science Teacher of the Year in 2000. He was also recently honored with the Florine Alexander Leadership Award for his leadership as the geology project leader with the Four Lear Clover 4-H Club.
He married Merilee Sue Neis on June 5, 1971 in Eudora, KS. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include his two daughters, Wendy Bluebaum, Kristen Channel, and wife, Sabrina, and two step grandchildren, Laylani and Michael.
The family will greet friends from 6 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at the Warren-McElwain Mortuary-Eudora Chapel.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Lawrence Humane Society, Eudora Library or Operation Wildlife and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
