Billy Moore

Billy Lee Moore, 77, Lawrence, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on January 19, 2013. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

He was born on March 31, 1935 in Shattuck, Oklahoma the son of Robert Lee and Wilma Rozella (Moberly) Moore of May, Oklahoma.

Billy was a High School and Jr. High Teacher in Newton Kansas for 20 years.  He worked with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department for 15 years.  He was an avid sports and baseball fan.

He married Nancy Mitchell Sapp on October 25, 1985 in Lawrence, Kansas.  She survives of the home.

Other survivors include his son, Robin Moore (Glenda Kelly), Lawrence; step-daughter, Jennifer Young (Gary Young), Garnett, KS; step-son, Brian Sapp (Heather), Rose Hill, KS; sister, Mona Rae Hadley, Derby, KS; 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Lawrence Memorial Hospital Endowment- Oncology Department.
