Bruce was born October 18, 1942, in Ottawa, the son of Robert N. and Anne Mae (Vincent) Bundy.

He graduated from Ottawa High School in 1960 before attending Ottawa University, where he earned his business degree in 1964. He later attended University of Kansas, receiving his master’s degree in June 1966. Bruce went on to build a successful career with Atlas Energy, where he became known as a gifted salesman and dedicated professional.

Bruce married Ruth Ann Yager on September 1, 1963, in Grand Junction, Colorado. They later divorced. On August 22, 1999, he married Emma Jean “Jeanie” Hinderliter Guess at beautiful Sapphire Point, Breckenridge, Colorado a place that reflected his deep love for the mountains and outdoors.

Bruce lived life with a generous heart and a joyful spirit. He faithfully supported many organizations and causes close to his heart, including Lawrence Memorial Hospital, camps for children with special needs, foster families, and KU Athletics. He found great happiness in spending time in Breckenridge, where he loved hunting, fishing, and taking in the beauty of the outdoors. He was a devoted sports fan, especially when it came to KU athletics, and he rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his Jayhawks. Bruce will also be remembered for his quick wit, warm smile, and the unforgettable one-liners that brought laughter to those around him.

Above all, Bruce loved his family deeply. He is survived by his beloved wife, Jeanie Bundy; his daughter, Amy Brooks (Brian Brooks); step-sons Brad Guess (Ellen) and Trent Guess (Thuy); his sister Beverly Fulton (Rick); grandchildren Brady Lake, Jordan Bray (Austin), Anna Broyles (James), Joel Guess, Laura Stone (Parker), Matthew Guess, Olivia Guess, and Audrey Guess; and great-grandchildren Hudson Bray, Adaline Bray, Paxton Bray, Xaden Bray, Nicholas Broyles, Christopher Broyles, Selah Stone, and Zeke Stone. He also leaves behind his cherished cat, Kassie.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Joseph E. Bundy; and his siblings Patricia Barnes, Robert “Bob” Bundy, and Barbara Bueller.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Ottawa University for the Robert “Bob” Bundy Accounting and Finance Program Scholarship, and to KU Endowment in support of KU Athletics.

'He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death' or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed. Revelation 21:4
