Buna L. Taylor

February 8, 1939 — June 1, 2025

Buna Lou Taylor was born February 8, 1939, in Henryetta, Oklahoma, to Alice (Burgess) and Hully Taylor.

Buna passed away peacefully on June 1, 2025, with her family by her side.

Buna was a member of the Creek Tribe. She attended Haskell Institute and graduated from the Haskell Dental Assistant Vocational Program in 1975. Buna was employed by the Indian Health Services as a dental assistant, a role she loved and excelled in. She was proud of her work and always emphasized good oral hygiene to her patients.

Buna had three children and is survived by: Donna Hale (Martin Hale) of Topeka, KS; Denise Cesare (David Cesare) of Lawrence, KS; and Woodrow Jimboy (Michelle Jimboy) of Colorado Springs, CO. She is survived by her grandchildren: Candice Bonnel (Deva Bonnel) of Lawrence, KS, and their daughters Mia and Ella Bonnel; Nicholas Cesare (Jessica Cesare) of Kansas City, MO and their daughters Leilan, Addelyn and Emmarie Cesare, Keith Jimboy of Lawrence, KS; Megan Hale of Denver, CO; Sean Cesare (Sara Noller) of Lawrence, KS and their daughters Violet and Juniper Cesare; Allysen and Alex Jimboy of Colorado Springs, CO.

Buna was an independent woman who made her own way in life. She lived comfortably and on her own terms to the very end. She enjoyed shopping, cheering on the KU Jayhawks, had a love of birds and gardening and was a true connoisseur when it came to seeking out the “best” cheeseburger.

Services will be private for the immediate family.

The family would like to thank those who helped Buna throughout the years whether by lending a hand or simply taking the time to listen to her stories and memories. She had strong opinions and never hesitated to speak her mind – often keeping people on their toes. She was also a woman of faith and prayer.

We will miss her but we know she won’t be far.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alice Burgess and Hully Taylor; her siblings Marvin Taylor, Bertha Taylor, Kenneth Taylor; and Irene Aguilar. She is also survived by her siblings Nelson Taylor of Los Angeles, CA and Quannah Suwanvittaya of Santa Ana, CA.
