Carol June Belzer

Carol June Belzer, 80, of Lawrence, Kansas passed peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Monday, March 31, 2025.

Carol was born on June 4, 1944 in Lovilia, Iowa to James and Irene (Roberts) Bunch.

Carol spent her life serving others. After graduating from Carl Sandburg College she began her career caring for children. She taught preschool for many years and retired as Director of Immanuel Lutheran Child Care Center. In retirement, she continued to serve by managing a local food bank.

Carol was an avid reader. She also  enjoyed flower gardening, cheering on the KU basketball team (Rock Chalk Jayhawk!) and playing Joker with friends. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh and joke around.

Carol married Jerry Belzer on May 23, 1964 in Lovilia, Iowa. Jerry survives of the Home.

Other Survivors include her children; Cindy Hawkins, Chelly Sumner (Bret), and JD Belzer, four grandchildren Jenni, Becca, Terrance and Zachary, and sister Ruth Belzer.

Carol was proceeded in death by both of her parents, siblings Helen Baker, Dorothy Cotter, George Bunch and Walter Bunch.

A private service will be held for immediate family members.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions in Carol’s name may be given to Lawrence Humane Society or Visiting Nurses Association and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W 13 ^th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.
