Carolyn J. Tuttle

It is with both great sadness and great joy that the family of Carolyn J. Tuttle, formerly of Glen Haven, Colorado, announce that Carolyn walked gently into the arms of her Savior on Sunday, July 19, 2026 in Lawrence, Kansas, following a nine-year battle with Alzheimer’s. A battle we rejoice that she has finally been released from and given a new body and mind. She passed away peacefully and with the same beauty of heart and grace that was lived throughout her 81 years of life.

Carolyn Jeanne Weber (Tuttle) was born February 18, 1945 in Long Beach, California to Jeanne and Wilbur Weber. She enjoyed a childhood filled with love and laughter, and her favorites - the water and beaches. A self-proclaimed “Daddy’s girl”, Wilbur etched the sentiment “Hello sweetheart” and “Hello darling” into our hearts and into Mom’s vocabulary. The second oldest daughter, Carolyn was the peacemaker of the family and constant uplifter of her parents and siblings, Kathleen, Kenny, and Colleen.

Carolyn graduated from Alhambra High school in 1963. During her post high school years, she was briefly married to Albert Ferris, Jr., and together they welcomed daughter Christine Marie in 1966. Carolyn continued to dedicate her life to her daughter and to her goal of a college degree graduating from California State University, Los Angeles in 1977 with a degree in Political Science. Inspiringly, she worked simultaneously full-time for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power in secretarial administration as she earned her degree. Her fortitude and abilities, discipline and drive shone in her job and future successes.

Eventually moving to Loveland, Colorado in 1980, Carolyn’s faith and deep love for her daughter Christine continued to be her greatest motivator. She was an unwavering and beautiful soul as a mother, a light in darkest storms. Carolyn navigated life’s struggles with courage and grace, deftly teaching strength, how to find gratitude in difficult times, and always remembering what matters most - each other. While working at Hewlett Packard, Carolyn serendipitously met the love of her life, Terry Tuttle – they were instantly attracted. Carolyn married Terry Tuttle in September of 1984, lovingly welcoming Terry’s children - Tamra, Todd, Russell and Teresa as well as all of their loving spouses. While at Hewlett Packard she worked in several departments but ultimately settled into her long-time position of Manufacturing Manager in Human Resources. Carolyn loved her many years there, contributing and elevating others and creating lifelong cherished friendships. Her love of people, ability to lead and listen well, and her commitment to hard work easily reflected her intelligence and character, and were a valuable commodity in the HP work force and beyond.

Terry and Carolyn completed their dream mountain home in Glen Haven, Colorado, in 1994, hosting many family and friends on that special property. Carolyn was a true “gatherer”, happily creating memories with her family like Christmas tree hunting, hiking up the mountain, exploring, shopping in Estes, and dancing around the jukebox just to name a few. Music was always a must. A true music lover it always buoyed her spirit and beautifully reflected her insights and feelings about life and love. Carolyn always had music surrounding her and adored listening to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren sing. Carolyn also especially loved hosting her family during the holidays. She had a gift of creating beauty everywhere she went and fostering special relationships. Every event, visit, and conversation was just a little more magical with her in it. She made hospitality look effortless and always paid attention to showing thoughtfulness even in the tiniest details.

Both with family and friends, Carolyn also planned cherished girls’ weekends, dinners and lunches out, brunches and teas, spa days, golf games, and special trips. Everyone loved shopping dates with her. She had a unique way of making everyone feel seen and valued, and whenever she spoke to you it was impossible not to feel lavished with her love. Simply said, Carolyn made being with her so uplifting and full of laughter that you always craved just a little more time. She adored her grandchildren and went to great efforts to show them that always. Deeply kind and incredibly thoughtful too, she always was remembering special days or difficulties others were having with phone calls, beautiful handwritten notes and thank you cards or especially thoughtful gifts of remembrance. Her devotion and loyalty were breathtaking to observe. Carolyn was a true beauty inside and out. She was nurturing and witty, elegant, and equally a “girlie girl“ with impeccable taste and style, and yet one of the hardest physical workers inside and outside you’ve ever seen. She cultivated a greenhouse full of stunning roses every year and taught all of us how to have a better “green thumb”.

Carolyn relished each new adventure with Terry. After retiring from Hewlett Packard, Carolyn and Terry officially became “snowbirds” traveling up and down the coast and visiting family and friends. Carolyn even mastered driving a 37-foot RV. Always making new friends easily, those years were no exception when they also set up a second Winter home to enjoy in Casa Grande, Arizona. While there Carolyn especially enjoyed golfing, reading, her dogs, hosting parties, and water aerobics. Together they also traveled internationally.

Carolyn also valued serving in her local communities wherever she lived. Whether reading to first graders in school or dressing up as a clown to hand out presents at Christmas, Carolyn throughout her life strove to make selfless contributions volunteering. She set many impactful examples of kindness, generosity, and compassion. Her quiet faith and relationship with Christ poured out into her life as well as into her involvement in church. She especially enjoyed decorating the front altar at her church with beautiful roses as a beloved member of Shepherd of the Mountains Lutheran church in Estes Park, Colorado, where she attended until she and Terry moved to Lawrence, Kansas in 2024.

Carolyn will be remembered as an extraordinary wife, mother, second mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, mentor, nurturer, best of friends and most of all, a strong woman with a gentle heart and unwavering love. To her family, she was an anchor, and our greatest cheerleader. She possessed an extraordinary capacity to love, an intuitive wisdom, and a steadfast strength that guided us through every season of life. She will be remembered for defining her life not just by her successes but in the success of how deeply she loved. Carolyn was resilient and resolute, and found great redemption in her life and in God. She was an indomitable force of grace, and patience, and perhaps one of her greatest accomplishments was in her gift of listening well. Always truly hearing, affirming, encouraging, and expressing unconditional love; gifts that were unparalleled and left an even deeper legacy of strong motherhood, womanhood, sisterhood, and forever love.

Carolyn was a true lioness in her Alzheimer’s journey. Looking into her glacier blue eyes said it all. She fought for every second of love and joy with her family, sweet laughter and moments of bittersweet delights until she couldn’t. Terry’s strength gave Carolyn safety, constant love, and hope in spite of such grave uncertainty. Alzheimer’s could never rob her, however, of her greatest loves or extinguish the remarkable ways she displayed love effortlessly her entire life. Alzheimer’s lost. We won. We have her memories. Her essence is irreplaceable. God’s love for her eternal. Her love forever etched on our hearts. She was deeply loved. She will be deeply missed.

We joyfully celebrate Carolyn being reunited with her beloved husband of 40 years Terry, parents Wilbur and Jeanne Weber, sisters Kathleen and Colleen, daughter Tamra Cox, Tamra’s husband Seth, and grandson Steffan Tuttle. She is survived by her daughter Christine Marie and husband Bruce Bridgeman of Great Falls, Montana. Their children Ben (Bobbi), Faith Janes (Nathan), Hope Vaughan (Nolan), Beau, Brady, and Zane Bridgeman. Daughter Teresa Miller and husband Doug of Lawrence, Kansas. Their children Natalie White (Russell) and Rob Miller (Megan). Son Todd Tuttle and wife Colleen of Sparks, Nevada and children Sasha Bohdan (Steven), Adam (Emily) and Collin (Mariah). Son Russell Tuttle and wife Barbie of Albuquerque, New Mexico and children Sam (Celinda), Skyler (Reyna), and Sean (Klarissa), and Savannah. And Tamra’s children: Casey, Trevor (Effie), and Holly Cox, Utah. She was blessed with 19 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Kenneth Weber and wife Bonnie, of Gardnerville, Nevada and nieces Holly and Kitty Weber, Caitlin Resare, and nephews Aaron Allen, and Thomas. Along with many lifelong and cherished friends. 

A Celebration of Life service for Carolyn J. Tuttle, 81, Lawrence, Kansas, will be held at Shepherd of the Mountains Lutheran Church on October, 17, 2026 at 2 p.m. 2000 Ptarmigan Trail, Estes Park, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America. They provide support services and funding research for a cure. Please plan to come dressed in bright or pastel colors as Carolyn always wore herself.
