Clara Mae Smith

Clara Mae Smith, 101, of Eudora, Kansas, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2026, at Baldwin Healthcare & Rehab in Baldwin City, Kansas, where she resided for the last seven years and will be greatly missed. At this time, there are no formal services scheduled.

Clara was born on August 6, 1925, in Mallard, Iowa, to her loving parents, Andrew and Rose (Hacker) Truelson. She grew up in Havelock, Iowa, where she was the youngest of nine siblings.

On May 15, 1946, Clara was united in marriage to Ralph R. Smith. Together, they moved to California with their two children, Connie & Lester, where they raised their family and built a life filled with many cherished memories.

Clara spent many years working in the food service industry before retiring. After retirement, Clara and Ralph enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, experiencing new places and making memories together. They eventually settled back in Escondido, California, where they remained close to their family until Ralph’s passing in 2008.

In 2018, Clara moved to Kansas to be near her daughter and son-in-law. She remained in Kansas until her passing.

Clara will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Connie (Nacho) Terrazas; ten grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; twenty-six great-great-grandchildren; and four great-great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ralph R. Smith; her parents; her eight siblings; her son, Lester Smith; great-grandchild, Jaime Terrazas; and great-great-granddaughter, Ariya De Jesus.
