A visitation for Clarence G. Norman, 98, of Eudora, will be held at 1:00 p.m. with a funeral service following at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 18th, 2023 at the Warren-McElwain Mortuary – Eudora Chapel. Interment will follow at the Eudora Cemetery.
Clarence died Thursday, March 9, 2023, at LMH Health surrounded by his family. He was born on November 29, 1924, in Big Flat, AR, the son of George W. and Erdine (Ramsey) Norman. He was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Eudora.
He served his country in the United States Army as a PFC at the end of WWII being stationed in Japan. He worked at the Sunflower Ammunition Plant in De Soto for eight years and then went to work for K-Mart Distribution Center for 15 years until he retired in 1987. He married Ruth Mildred Roper in a double ceremony that included Lorene and Dewey Richardson on May 7, 1946 in Oxley, Arkansas.
Ruth preceded him in death on February 17, 2009. He was also preceded in death by his parents and five sisters.
Survivors include his two daughters, Yolanda Thomas of Tonganoxie, KS and Connie Beach (Rick) of Overland Park, Kansas; seven grandchildren Bryan Thomas, Nichole Thomas-Fisher, Tana Thomas-Campbell (Seth), Brandi Beach (Brook), Adam Beach (Marilyn), Kelli Nolen (Derek), Jami Moore (Jesse); 18 great-grandchildren: Joshua, Justin, Blake, Brooklyn, Seth Allen, Taylor, Jaelyn, Maria, Riley, Kennedi, Ramsey, Logan, Cole, Cash, Kale, Archer, Everett, and Lawson; two great-great grandchildren: Isabella and Jaxon, and many nieces and nephews.
The family suggest memorial contributions in Clarence’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the Eudora Baptist Church may be sent in care of the Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.
