Cora was born and raised in Kingman County, Kansas. She graduated from Kingman High School and attended Bethel College.
Cora was one of nine children born to Peter Daniel Schrag and Katie Schrag and is preceded in death by her brothers, Milton, Marvin, Ralph, and Elmer; sister Olga, Bertha, Edna, Vera, and her daughter Annetta Kay Day.
Cora will forever be remembered by her devoted son Austin; her treasured grandchildren Catherine Jones of Clarksdale, Mississippi; Kimberly Quade of Dallas, Texas; her great-grandchildren Anna Jones and Hunter Jones of Little Rock, Arkansas; Sydney Quade, Cicely Quade and Brady Quade of Dallas, Texas, and her many nieces, nephews and friends.
Cora had a long and varied career serving many years as an elementary school teacher; a corporate executive secretary; a real estate agent; a secretary for the Kansas Geological Survey; and as a house mother Alpha Chi Omega Sorority at the University of Kansas.
Cora was a loving mother, grandmother and aunt and touched the lives of many people with her smile, her kindness and her generosity. She most enjoyed her family and friends, her church activities, and playing the piano and painting.
Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service 2:00 PM on September 15, 2018 at First Presbyterian Church in Lawrence, Kansas.
In lieu of remembrances the family suggests memorial contributions be directed to the charity of your choice and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
