Crystal Marie White tragically lost her life on February 22, 2024 – her 51st birthday – in Lawrence, Kansas. She was born on February 22, 1973, in Fremont California, to Roy Lee White and Julie Ann White.
She resided in Lawrence for much of her life, as well as California at times. Crystal was a resilient woman with a fierce spirit, despite a journey marked by adversity. She was cherished by her family and friends and will be deeply missed.
Crystal is survived by her mother, Julie White, of Silver Springs, Nevada; her sisters, Angelina Cruz (Maximo) of Lawrence, and Melissa Gustafson (Brian) of Fremont, California; her eight children, James White of Silver Springs, Nevada, Shelby Bray Lopez (Victor) of Antioch, California, Tad Bray of Oklahoma, Korinne Dickerson of Arizona, Justice Martinez of Salida, California; Precious White-Garrett of Lawrence, Perstephanie Steelsmith of Columbia, South Carolina, and Ro Williams of Salina, Kansas; numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends who are family by choice.
The family will gather to celebrate Crystal’s life on Sunday, March 3rd, from 4-9 pm at Mama’s Tamale Shop, 602 W. 9th St in Lawrence, KS. Friends from the community are invited to join in honoring Crystal’s memory.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the GoFundMe organized by Crystal’s sister, Angelina Cruz, to assist with funeral expenses and support the family during this challenging time. The fund also aims to raise awareness for crucial social causes such as mental health advocacy, trauma healing, and homelessness.
Crystal’s legacy serves as a reminder of the pressing need for societal change and compassion towards all individuals, regardless of their circumstances. Let us honor her memory by striving for a world where every life is valued and supported.
