Damani “Dash” Amiri Shomari Hughes Cleveland

d. May 23, 2024

A memorial visitation for Damani “Dash” Amiri Shomari Hughes Cleveland, 20, Lawrence, will be held from 2:30 ~ 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.

Damani Amiri Shomari Hughes “Dash” Cleveland was born Thursday, September 25, 2003, in Corsicana, TX, the son of Shannon Cleveland and Frankye Hughes. He grew up in Texas and Missouri before settling in Lawrence, KS where he went to Liberty Memorial Central Middle School, graduated in 2022 from Lawrence Free State High School and attended Baker University. Baptized at an early age, Dash lived a big and bright life and actively professed his faith in Jesus Christ to everyone he met.

He took flight to his heavenly home Thursday, May 23, 2024.

Dash is remembered for his generous smile, leadership, kindness, respectfulness, athletic prowess, great hugs, a big heart and so much more. He absolutely lit up a room with his presence. He leaves his family to remember him, his parents, siblings, a nephew, great-grandmothers, grandmothers, grandfathers and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.  He also leaves caring adults, coaches, classmates, educators, friends, and teammates from his school years and work years, too numerous to name individually and too important to ever be forgotten.

Memorial contribution checks may be made in Dash’s name to Home Works USA LLC and may be sent in the care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13 th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.
