Memorial service for James David “Dave” Crabb, 81, Lawrence will be held 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2001 at Pioneer Ridge-Health Center. Mr. Crabb died July 24, 2011 at Pioneer Ridge.
He was born on December 10, 1929 in Garden City, KS the son of Archie Edward and Genevive (Bishop) Crabb.
Dave was a long time Resident of Garden City where he owned and operated Dave Crabb Electric for over 35 years. He also was involved in starting the Salvation Army in Garden City. For his work in the Salvation Army he received The Community Service Award in 1983, the Army of Stars in 1986, the William Booth Award, the highest Civilian Salvation Army award one can receive. In 1997 Dave was inducted into the Garden City High School Hall of Fame. In addition to his business he volunteered many hours to the local education system, the Community College and Local Charities. He was very active in many Community Organizations and Service Clubs. He was a member of the Kansas National Guard where he was a First Lieutenant. He also was a member of the Church of the Brethren in Garden City where he served many positions. Dave was a resident of Pioneer Ridge for over seven years.
He married Mamie Stukey on October 15, 1950 in Garden City, KS. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include two sons, Paul Crabb and wife, Linda, Lawrence, Kansas, Arlen Crabb and wife, Patricia, Aberdeen, Maryland; two daughters, Annette Cody and husband, Larry, Steamboat Springs, Colorado, Mary Jo Bevz and husband, Mike, Las Cruces, New Mexico 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Douglas County Visiting Nurses Association, Rehabilitation and Hospice Care or Salvation Army in Lawrence and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
