Deborah Guy

Entombment services for Deborah D. Guy, 85, Lawrence, KS, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Kansas City, KS.  She died on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at the Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City, KS.

She was born on May 4, 1926 in Union, NE, the daughter of Roy and Deborah (Heafey) Mullis. Mrs. Guy had formerly worked for the Santa Fe Railroad as a PBX operator and later, as a rate clerk.

She was a member of the Holiday Ramblers, the Welcome Club, and the Red Hat Society.  She enjoyed playing canasta and she had a favorite dog, Sheba.

She was married to Calvin E. Guy, Sr. in May 1949 and he preceded her in death in Jan. 1998.

Survivors include two daughters, Connie (husband, Gordon) Merritt, of Lawrence, KS, Mary Beth Guy, of Paola, KS, a son, Rodney (wife, Susan) Guy, of Smithville, MO, a sister, Esther Kendall, of Union, NE, four grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by a son, Calvin, Jr., two brothers and two sisters.

The family will greet friends from 6:30 – 8 P.M. Tuesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.

The family suggests memorials in her name to the Lawrence Humane Society and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
