Delbert Lorentzson of Lawrence, Kansas passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2026. Delbert was born on April 3, 1937, in Duluth, Minnesota to Oscar and Jennie (Peterson) Lorentzson. He married Suzanne Winkels on June 26, 1971, in Adams, Minnesota. Together they raised two sons.

After graduating in 1955 from Cotton High School, Delbert worked at a dairy in Duluth and then in the iron mines of Northern Minnesota.  

In 1960 Delbert joined the United States Marine Corps and served four years. After basic training he drove a field ambulance at Camp Pendleton, California for 1 1/2 years. The rest of his duty he spent in Hawaii. He stood guard (MP) at the gates of Marine Barracks. He then was transferred to driver and orderly to a Two Star Admiral who was Commandant of the Pacifica Fleet.

After his military service, Delbert went to work for Control Data Government Systems. He was a pioneer in CAD (computer aided design). He worked on computer electrical schematics for the US military aircraft. Delbert was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Delphi Hallfors, Darlene Reindahl and Darilyn Bjork. 

He is survived by his wife Sue and sons, Graig (Katie) and Kurt. His four grandchildren, Joshua (Harper) Lorentzson, Kadi (Quincy) Cox, Jacob and Kayla Lorentzson. Great grandchildren, Ambrose and Theodore Cox and Lydia Lorentzson and a great grandchild on the way. He is also survived by his sister Delores (Bob) Randall and brother-in-law Sid Reindahl. He is also survived by his daughter Lisa Hurd and her family. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

Per Delbert's request there will be no funeral. A military burial service at Leavenworth National Cemetery in Leavenworth, KS on Friday, April 24, 2026.
