Private graveside services for Delma J. Jensen,97, of Lawrence will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence. Delma passed away on April 24,2026 at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor. She was born on October 28, 1928, in rural Douglas County near Lone Star, Kansas, the daughter of Clyde B. And Veva H. Schweikhardt Hoover.
Delma was a homemaker. She was a member of First Christian Church and was active in Christian Women's Fellowship and taught Sunday school and Bible school. She enjoyed embroidering, crocheting, reading, helping on the farm, and gardening.
Delma married Thomas Russell Jensen on November 23,1947 at Washington Creek Church. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her son, David Jensen, an infant daughter, grandson Brandon Old, two brothers, Raymond and Paul Hoover, and a sister, Eunice Osban.
Survivors include his daughter, Deanna Old, daughter-in-law, Pat Herrera-Thomas, four grandchildren, Aaron Old, Susan Tucker, Courtney Sanders, Jody Jensen; seven great-grandchildren, Isaiah Sanders, Jarin Sanders, Chloe Jensen Sanders, Sabastion Tucker, Penelope Tucker, Riley Old and McKenzie Old.
The family suggest memorials in her name to the Good Samaritan Fund at the Presbyterian Manor or to the charity of the donor’s choice and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
