Dennis Ray Dunavin, 74, of Lawrence Kansas passed away on Monday November 21, 2022, at Stormont Vail Health in Topeka.

Dennis was born on July 31, 1948, in Mammoth Springs, Arkansas, the son of Paul and Ruth (Ryan) Dunavin.

Dennis spent his childhood growing up DeSoto Kansas. After serving in the U.S. Army in Korea, he was employed by Western Electric, Stokely Van Camp of Lawrence, and retired from the University of Kansas where he was employed as a custodian. Dennis was a life time member of the DeSoto VFW, and loved riding his Harley.

Dennis was married to Ann Kendell (deceased) of DeSoto. Dennis is survived by his son, Dennis R. Dunavin Jr. (Sheri), Amarillo, TX. Other survivors include brothers, Dan Dunavin, (Peggy) Winter Haven, FL, Terry Dunavin (Annie) Harris, MO, sister Paula Guffey (O’Gene Johnson) Perry, KS, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters-in-laws Wilma, Becky, and Fran Dunavin, and many nephews and nieces.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Ruth Dunavin, brothers, Lawrence Dunavin (LD), Roddy Dunavin, Bobby Dunavin, Garry Dunavin, and sister, Jean Colley,

A graveside inurnment will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at Eudora Cemetery.

The family suggests memorials in Dennis’ name to the DeSoto VFW and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13 th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.
