Diana Lynn Miller

d. July 2, 2018

Diana Lynn Miller, 68, Overland Park, went to the big casino in the sky on Monday, July 2, 2018 after an 18-month long battle with lung, breast and brain cancers.

Born February 3, 1950 in Lawrence, KS to Asa Roland and Virgie Wanita (Barnes) Richardson, Diana was a child of the sixties, but in her own words was “too poor to be a hippy.” She graduated from Lecompton High School in 1968. She worked at the Dazey Corp factory and later Futamura cutting cellophane. She was heavily involved in Scouting when her kids were young and loved attending her children’s and later her grandchildren’s school and sporting events. She loved gambling and always enjoyed heading to the casino with her sister Karen for a little “ka-ching”. Diana’s love, sarcasm and generosity were legion.

Diana was vastly loved by her family, children and grandchildren and will be greatly missed as the matriarch of her small clan. She liked cuddles and sitting in a car reading a romance novel as her children played at the park. Diana lives on in many memories and words. One that seems as poignant then as it does now is “Don’t take yourself too seriously”.

Survivors include her rockstar children, Patty (David) Ganaden of Olathe, Linda (Craig) Arensberg of Overland Park and Scott Miller of Pittsburgh, PA; two brothers, Ernie (Clara) and Mark (Carolyn) Richardson; two sisters, Karen (Merv) Dick and Wanita “Tootie” (Randy) Lovell; six grandchildren, Nolan and Skylar Jones, Nathan Ganaden, Bailey, Zach and Lexi Arensberg.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 7, 2018 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to the Girl Scouts of NE KS and NW MO and Boy Scouts Heartland of America Council and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

Diana’s lung and brain cancers were a small cell carcinoma solely caused by her 41 years of smoking. Love your family. Love your friends. Quit today. #smokingkills
