Funeral services for Dona Mae Wichman, 77, Eudora, KS, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, February 7, 2011 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary-Eudora Chapel. Burial will follow at Eudora Cemetery. She died Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Lawrence.
Dona was born August 15, 1933 in Topeka, KS, the daughter of Albert D. and Helen A. Altenbernd Wichman.
She was a homemaker. She enjoyed cross stitching and making hand piece quilts. She was an avid KU sports fan and was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Eudora.
As a youth, she was active in 4-H and won State recognition with her cross-stitched quilts.
Survivors include her sister; Norma Schmille, of Lawrence; a niece, ViAnn Deathe, of Lawrence, a nephew, Victor L. Schmille, of Lawrence and three great nieces (Leslie Schmille, Sarah Schmille, Lacy Tuckness), two great nephews (Stephen Schmille, Dustin Deathe); and one great-great niece (Natalynn Tuckness).
The family will greet friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the mortuary. On Sunday, friends may call from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.
The family suggests memorials in her name to the Kansas Special Olympics and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
