Doris W. Betzel, 88, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 24, 2025.

Doris was born on June 3, 1937 to Earl and Vera (Couttrell) Hurt in Fresno, CA. She was a devoted Christian and attended church services at her residence.

Doris valued time spent with family, during which she shared stories of her past. In her younger years, she was an enthusiastic bowler, frequenting the bowling alley on many evenings. Her hobbies consisted of playing games such as bingo and Yahtzee, watching game shows like the Price is Right, and singing hymn songs with the other residents . Up to almost her last day, Doris never refused a good scoop of ice cream.

She is survived by her 2 daughters, Karen Kane (John) and Jennifer Stearman (Bryan); 2 daughter-in-laws, Robin Betzel and Tami Betzel; Nine grandchildren: Amanda, Kaitlyn, Amelia, and Jillian; Rachel and Joshua; Lindsey and Lesley; Dylan; and 10 great grandchildren. Doris is preceded in death by her parents, husband Russell Betzel Jr,and her 2 sons Michael Betzel and Russell Betzel III.

Doris will be placed to rest next to her husband Russell, 2:30 PM, November 21st. at the Leavenworth National Cemetery, 150 Muncie Road, Leavenworth, KS 66048.

Immediately following the service, a celebration of life will be held at Linwood Baptist Church, 205 W 3rd St., Linwood, KS 66052.
