Dorothy Jean Frazier

Dorothy Jean Frazier, 93, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 30, 2026, in North Charleston, South Carolina.

Born on March 11, 1933, Dorothy grew up in Coffeyville, Kansas. She was the daughter of the late Helen L. Truxell Detwiler and Lester R. Detwiler. On September 4, 1955, she married Jerry D. Frazier in Coffeyville, Kansas. Together they made their home in Lawrence, Kansas, where they lived for 60 years before relocating to the Charleston, South Carolina, area in 2015.

Dorothy worked as secretary to the Dean of Education at the University of Kansas until they adopted their daughter, Lori, in 1966. She then devoted herself to being a full-time wife, mother, and homemaker.

A faithful and active member of her church, Dorothy served as the church's book steward for more than 20 years. She found great joy in tending a large garden and enjoyed quilting and counted cross-stitch. Dorothy was active in numerous sports leagues and hobby clubs throughout her life and generously volunteered as an adult leader for Girl Scouts and Rainbow Girls. She especially treasured traveling throughout the Midwest with her family and fellow members of the Comet Travel Trailer Club.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Shirley May Detwiler; and her sister, Judith "Judy" Ann Detwiler Gray.

She is survived by her beloved husband of more than 70 years, Jerry Frazier; her daughter, Lori Eberhart (Paul) of Moncks Corner, South Carolina; and her three grandsons: Nicholas Eberhart (Kirsten) of Moncks Corner, South Carolina, and their children, Elijah, Aniston, and Hayes; Eric Eberhart (Amber) of Wake Forest, North Carolina, and their children, Malachi and Silas; and Austin Eberhart of Charleston, South Carolina. She is also survived by her nephew, Monty Staton of Longview, Texas.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 2, 2026, from 1:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at McAlister-Smith Funeral & Cremation, Goose Creek. A memorial service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m.

Burial will take place on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Restlawn Memorial Park in Coffeyville, Kansas.
