Graveside inurnment services for Dortha J. Garrison, 87, Linwood, KS, will be held at 1p.m. Saturday, October 2, 2010 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence.
She died on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at the Medicalodges of Eudora.
Mrs. Garrison grew up in Arkansas. She was a retired secretary at the University of Kansas in the Sponsored Program Accounting Department.
She was very interested in music, crafts and sports. During her high school years, she played the clarinet and the bassoon in the marching band and she also played the piano. She and her husband loved to attend craft shows and the Wednesday evening band concerts in the South Park. She was an avid supporter of her grandchildren’s athletic events at Baldwin High School and also KU sporting events. She loved working in her home and garden.
She was married to Jack Fine in Van Buren, AR. They were later divorced. She later married Kenneth Garrison in Platte City, MO. He preceded her in death on May 17, 2008.
Survivors include two daughters: Rita Fine, of Lawrence, KS, Rebecca Rich, of Hartford, KS, two sons; John Garrison, of Lawrence, KS, Tom Garrison, of Lawrence, KS, nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Warren Fine.
The family suggests memorials in her name to the Lawrence City Band or the Lawrence Food Pantry and may be sent in care of the Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
