Elizabeth (Betty) Jean Toy

Nov. 27, 1933 – July 25, 2018

Elizabeth Jean Toy, 84, former 62-year resident of Pacifica, CA, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2018, in Lawrence, Kansas.

Betty, as she was affectively known, was born in Bismark, ND on Nov. 27, 1933, the only daughter of Peter George Heiser and Josephine (Kraker) Heiser.

She grew up in Butte where she graduated from high school and soon met her future husband, Samuel (Sam) George Toy, Jr.

The couple moved to San Francisco in the early 50’s where Sam was stationed while serving in the Navy. After he was discharged, the couple settled in the Bay Area where she worked for Kemper Insurance and Sam started his career with General Electric. In 1956, they purchased their home in Pacifica. Sam retired from General Electric in 1987 and the couple founded Condor Appliance Repair where both worked until Sam’s death.

In addition to raising three daughters, Betty loved old movies, Elvis, oil painting, reading murder mysteries, playing her piano, taking drives along the coast and keeping track of the city commission activities. Following an illness in 2017, Betty moved to Lawrence, KS to be closer to her eldest daughter. During her short time in Kansas, Betty enjoyed reading about the local haunted homes and establishments and meeting new friends in local social clubs, i.e., The Mackey Merry Makers.

Betty will be deeply missed and will remain in the hearts and thoughts of her family and friends forever.

Surviving family include daughter, Teresa Grove and husband, Dick; daughter, Cynthia Toy-Bastedo and husband, Mike; daughter Stephanie Courtney, and former Son-In-Law, John; and granddaughter, Brittany Courtney.
