A Graveside Service for Evah Mae Basel, 96, Lawrence, KS, is set for 10:00 am, Thursday, April 9, 2026, at Memorial Park Cemetery, 1517 E. 15th Street, Lawrence, KS, 66044. Evah passed away March 28, 2026, at Hillside Village of De Soto in De Soto, KS.

Evah was born on March 11, 1930, in Agra, KS, the daughter of Elmer P. and Elizabeth R. (Morgan) Norris.

Evah met the love of her life, Daniel Basel, at a square dance. They were married December 23, 1951. She loved Patsy Cline music. Evah enjoyed traveling and making cherished memories with their young family to several National Parks, camping and boating. 

Evah is survived by her children, Danny (Deborah) Basel, Maryanna (Larry) Rawlings, Wendell (Cyndi) Basel, Diana (Mike) Gammill, Rodney (Shara) Basel, sister, Lavetta Koehler, 20 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren.

Evah was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Daniel Basel, daughter, Rita Dally, siblings, Wayne Norris, Roy Norris, Nick Norris, Floyd Norris, Edith Coady, Violet Roller, Vena Carpenter, Wanda Camby, granddaughter, Samanta, and great-grandchildren, Cainan, Della, and Autumn.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Evah’s name may be made to Eudora Baptist Church.
