Frankie Snyder
May 1, 1946 – August 26, 2025
“So kind.” “So sweet.” “So thoughtful.” “So considerate.” These are only a few of the descriptions used by people who knew or in some way interacted with Frances Williams Snyder (known to all of us as “Frankie”) who passed away on August 26, 2025, after battling a recent illness.
Frankie came into the world on the first day of May, 1946, born in Iola, Kansas, to Harold and Vesta Williams of Humboldt, Kansas. Frankie grew up in Humboldt, graduating from high school there, attending Allen County Community College in Iola and, later, Clark’s Business College in Topeka. She moved to Lawrence, Kansas, in the late 1960s and accepted the position of administrative assistant for Viking Investment Corporation where she worked for a number of years before winding down her career during several years at The Roark Group, LLC office in Lawrence.
Frankie married Neil Snyder of Topeka on July 4, 1976, and their union achieved 42 years of longevity until Neil’s death in 2018. During their time together, they made many road trips to Las Vegas, Lake of the Ozarks, and other joyful destinations, typically driving a late model Chevrolet Corvette. They also enjoyed many hours at Clinton Lake, near Lawrence, guiding a sleek power boat. Frankie was always known for her fashion-forward wardrobe choices, her abundant collection of shoes and her many cologne scents.
Frankie was a life-long Presbyterian who truly lived out her faith and never was without several devotional books and bibles on her coffee table. She frequently stated, “God has got me!” and was reassured by this reminder.
Frankie is survived by her sister, Donna Mayfield of Lawrence, her brother, Roger Williams (Leslie) of Shawnee, Kansas, her brother-in-law, Kent Snyder of Phoenix, Arizona, niece, Melissa Mayfield of Lawrence, nephew, Hunter Williams (Sarah) of Bonner Springs, Kansas, niece, Hannah Sheffield (Randy) of Bellevue, Nebraska, as well as six additional great nieces and nephews and one great, great nephew.
Frankie’s legacy, while not a lengthy list of accomplishments, awards, and titles, is her embodiment of Love. She frequently expressed this love to her family and friends through holiday and birthday greetings, telephone contacts and in-person visits without fail.
A Celebration of Life for Frankie is scheduled at 2:00 PM, Saturday, September 13, 2025, at the First Presbyterian Church, Lawrence, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be made in Frankie’s name to the First Presbyterian Church of Lawrence or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.
