Funeral services for Rev. Franklin D. Galloway, 76, Lawrence will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 3, 2010 at the Mustard Seed Church, Lawrence. Rev. Galloway died Sunday, June 27, 2010 at his home in Lawrence. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, Lawrence.
He was born July 23, 1933 in Murphy, Mississippi, the son of Molester and Leanna (Turnipseed) Galloway.
Rev. Galloway was Pastor of The Church of God for 40+ years and retired from Farmland Chemicals in 1992 after 17 years. He received an award on January 18, 2003 from the Ecumenical Fellowship Inc. for 34 years of continual pastoral leadership in the Lawrence community.
He was married to Josephine Clark on November 2, 1952 in Hollandale, Mississippi. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include; four daughters, Murtis (Don) Kinney, Topeka, KS, Frankie (Sheldon) McAfee, Olathe, KS; Joyce (Marvin) Reese, Lawrence, KS; and Kathy (Kenneth) Mitchell, Belleview, FL; four sons, Andrew (Earlean) Galloway, Memphis, TN; Luke (Rose) Galloway, Wichita, KS; Wesley Galloway, Lawrence, KS; and Gregory (Maria) Galloway, O’Fallon, IL; 23 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Charles (Sandra) Galloway, Coffeyville, KS; Huey “Bo” Galloway, John (Carolyn) Galloway, Lawrence, KS; and Mickey (Carol) Galloway, Arlington, TX; and one sister, Vivian Galloway Tubbs, Lawrence, KS and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by one grandchild, James Douglas Kinney; one sister, Nancy Galloway Edwards; and two brothers, Major Galloway and S.T. Galloway.
The family will greet friends from 7:00-8:30 p.m. Friday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary, Lawrence. The family suggests memorials in his name to The Ghuch of God and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
