Graveside services for Genevieve Sue Harmon, 86, of Lawrence will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 10, 2014 at Mt. Muncie Mausoleum in Lansing, KS. She died Tuesday, November 5, 2014 at Brandon Woods at Alvamar.
Sue was born December 11, 1927 in Bogard, MO, the daughter of Alexander Dockery and Byrdean Luella (Buzard) Cook. She was raised by her Aunt Ella and Uncle Jim Cook due to the depression and later reunited with her mother.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Leavenworth, KS, Leavenworth Doll Club, was past president of the Leavenworth County Historical Society, Kaw Valley Quilters, Toy and Miniature Museum Docent, and the University of Kansas Alumni Association.
She married Kenneth Harmon on May 27, 1951 in Leavenworth, KS at the First United Methodist Church. He preceded her in death July 18, 2014.
Survivors include two sons, Kevin Harmon and wife, Cindy, Lawrence; Kelly Harmon and wife, Sheryl, Spring Hill, KS; one daughter, Susan Coleman and husband, Roy, Lawrence; four grandchildren, Erin Harmon, Lawrence, Melissa Harmon, Olathe, KS, Chris Coleman, and Andrea Coleman, both of Lawrence. She was also preceded in death by one son, Keith Harmon; and two brothers, Thomas J. and A.D. Cook.
The family will greet friends from 2 – 4 p.m. Sunday, November 9, 2014 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials in her name to Leavenworth County Historical Society or Grace Hospice and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
