Mass of Christian Burial for Georgina “Jean” L. Hegeman, 80, Lawrence will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at Annunciation Catholic Church, 740 North 6 th Street, Baldwin City, KS 66006. Interment will follow at Rock Creek Cemetery in Rural Douglas County. A reception will be held following the burial at St. Francis of Assisi, Lapeer Annunclation Catholic Church. Jean passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at home with her loving family.
Jean was born on August 1, 1941 in Lawrence, KS the daughter of George C. and Juanita J. (Arnold) Eberhart.
Jean was the video manager at Dillon’s on 23 rd Street in Lawrence. She was a member of the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and was an Altar Society member at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. She was also involved with the Lone Star Ladies. She was an award- winning 4-H cooking leader. She was a Boy Scout Leader as well. She was always involved in her kid’s activities.
She married William “Bill” Wallace Hegeman, Jr. on October 29, 1957 in Liberty, MO. He survives of the home.
Other survivors include three daughters, Rebecca “Becky” (Steve) Grammer, Baldwin City, KS, Annette (Tom) Glahn, North Wales, PA, Lisa Hegeman Zwiener, Lawrence; two sons, Michael (Vicki) Hegeman, Mark (Melinda) Hegeman, both of Lawrence; two sisters, Cathy Davis, Eudora, KS, Linda J. Viture-Horn, Hartsel, CO; one brother, Tom (Marilyn) Eberhart, Hutchinson, KS; 16 grandchildren, Katie (Grammer) Maxon, Scott Grammer, Sara Hegeman, Chris Lane, Brandon Hegeman, Mallory (Glahn) Womack, Marissa Glahn, Stephanie Glahn (Somogyi), Alex Glahn, Amanda Zwiener (Rumbach), Ryan Zwiener (passed away), Katelyn Tilton-Zwiener, Ashley Tilton-Zwiener, Erica (Hegeman) Patz, Blake Hegeman, Tara (Hegeman) Ham; and 20 great grandchildren, Connor, Collin, Samantha, Megan, Kaladin, Avery, Nadeline, Mayla, Jonah, Leighanna, Abbygayle, Justin, Travis, Hunter, Maddalyn, Annabelle, William, Bayleigh, Braelyn, and Elliott (passed away). She was preceded in death by one grandson, Ryan and one great grandson, Elliott.
A Rosary will be said at 4:00 p.m. Monday, October 25, 2021 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. A visitation will follow until 6:30 p.m.
Memorial Contributions may be made in her name to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Interm Hospice and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
