Grace P. Smith

Graveside Services for Grace P. Smith, 90, Lawrence will be held at 9:00 a.m. Friday, August 27, 2021 at Leavenworth National Cemetery in Leavenworth, KS. Grace passed away on Monday, August 9, 2021 at St. Luke’s Hospice House in Kansas City, MO.

Grace was born on December 22, 1930 in Fairfield, ID, the daughter of William and Laura E. (Lambeth) Peck.

She was a homemaker. She was an avid crocheter and bowler. She was active with Auxiliary of VFW, American Legion and Eagles.

She married Eddie Allen Smith on June 1, 1972 in Tacoma, WA. He preceded her in death on October 10, 2013.

Survivors include three daughters, Julie (Reynaldo) Lohera,, Rebecca (Ralph) Harvey, Elizabeth “Beth” A. (John) Mole, Lawrence; three sons, John Ahearn (Cassie) Burkburnet, TX, Jay (Wanda) Matlock, Arizona, William Matlock “Chipper”; many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by son, Steven Peck. Grace was the last surviving of 12 children.

The family will greet friends from 6 – 8 p.m. on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.

The family suggests memorials in Grace’s name to the American Cancer Society or the ASPCA and may be sent in care of the Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13 ^th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.
