Gregory “Greg” Allen Solberg

Funeral services for Gregory “Greg” Allen Solberg, 63, Lawrence, KS, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. The burial will take place at Gypsum Hill Cemetery in Salina, KS, the same day at 2:00 pm. Greg passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at The University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, KS.

Greg was born on April 20, 1959, in Salina, KS, the son of Robert and Alma (Johnson) Solberg. Survivors include his siblings, Barbara (Tom Schmiedeler) Solberg, Carol (John J. Jr.) Riscoe, nieces, Melinda (Gustavo) Jarvis Borchert, Elizabeth (Matthew) Hastings, Kelly (Graham) Walker, nephews, Paul Jarvis, Eric (Chelsea) Riscoe, and Andrew (Billy Chan) Riscoe. Greg was preceded in death by his parents.

Greg was a gentle, soft-spoken man with a dry sense of humor and made others laugh with his humorous one-liners. He loved rock and roll music, in particular, Elvis Presley and the Beatles.

He liked to dance to disco music and had some good John Travolta moves. Always a sports enthusiast, in his youth he participated in Special Olympics in bowling, tennis and softball. He liked to watch professional wrestling and was an adamant fan of the Kansas City Chiefs football team.

He lived in Salina most of his life and was involved with the OCCK organization there. After moving to Lawrence in 2018 he was part of the Good Life Innovations organization.

Memorial contributions may be made in Greg’s name to the Special Olympics of Kansas and may be sent in the care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.
