Harry was Irish through and through, the only son of Bridget O’Sullivan-Schwall and Henry A Schwall. Harry has 2 older sisters, Margaret Schwall Edgren and Evelyn Schwall Meindl, who he dearly loved and admired. Evelyn survives and resides in upstate New York.
Harry will be missed by all. He never met a stranger, had friends far and wide. In the past few years Harry’s life was touched by a wonderful group that helped care for him; including a bevy of beauties (his words). A graduate of New Trier High School in Wilmette, IL, he attended Coe College where he met his wife Jennine Featherstone Schwall, a beauty queen and cheerleader. They were married, moved to Rockford, IL and had their two children Jeff and Lisa. Harry had a wonderful career with Ford Motor Company, moving several times and finally settling in Omaha, Nebraska, where he retired after 35 years with Ford. Harry and Jennine later divorced, and he re-married Jean Shooter Schwall during his time in Omaha. He was preceded in death by both Jennine Schwall, and Jean Schwall.
Harry served his country as a Marine, a Legionnaire, a Shriner, a Jester, as well as many other service organizations. Upon retirement, Harry “O”’s favorite pastimes we’re traveling, golf ( 3 holes-in-one), and lunch with the guys. His love of life was evident; when people would ask, “How was your day”? , he would reply with “Never had a bad one!”
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Alzheimer’s Association or your local animal shelter, as Harry loved his dogs.
A celebration of life will be held May 3, 2014, in honor of Harry’s love of, parties and ponies, alas, The Kentucky Derby. Time and place will be announced at a later date.
