Graveside services for Hattie Ruth (Rowland) Weaver Dwyer, 92, will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at Clinton Cemetery. Ms. Dwyer went to be with her heavenly father and loving brother and sisters on October 26, 2019 with her faithful daughter by her side at Brandon Woods, Lawrence, Kansas.
Hattie was born on August 31, 1927 in Lawrence, Kansas, the youngest of five children born to Leroy and Goldie L. (Briner) Rowland. She worked at King Radio for 4 years as an assembler. She also worked at Round Corner Drug Store and Englund Grocery Store. After retirement, she moved to southern Texas (Pasadena and Mission) where she made many friends and were left with fond memories. While living in Texas, she was a volunteer at a hospital in Texas. When she returned to Lawrence in 1993, she was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. Hattie was a member of the American Legion Post 282 Wetmore, Kansas, Moose Lodge 555 of Topeka, Kansas and Eagles Lodge of Lawrence, Kansas.
She was united in marriage with Maurice Jr. Weaver on July 8, 1947, they later divorced. She married Leo Edward Dwyer on October 6, 1975.
Hattie exceled at sewing, embroidery, crocheting, quilting and all hand crafts. She also loved square dancing.
Survivors include a daughter, Carol Ann (Weaver) Waisner and her husband Wayne of Lawrence, Kansas, one sister, Maxine (Rowland) Schroyer, 99, of Leavenworth, Kansas, 2 grandchildren, Scott (Jeanne) Waisner of Lawrence, Kansas and Stephen (Tiffany) Waisner of Blue Springs, Missouri, 4 great grandchildren, Chrissy (Cody) Black of Mound City, Kansas, Joe Waisner of Lawrence, Kansas, Josh Waisner of Lawrence, Kansas and Sarah Waisner of Blue Springs, Missouri and 2 great-great grandchildren, Gavin and Molly Black of Mound City, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her husband Leo Dwyer on April 4, 1988, brother, William “Bill” Rowland in July 2000, and sisters, Viola (Rowland) Rush in May 16, 2002 and Elzenia (Rowland) Hitchcock in May 13, 2008.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lone Star Church of the Brethren or Visiting Nurses in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.
The family will greet friends to celebrate the life of Hattie from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.
