Hayden Dutch Koch

It is with profound sadness that we mourn the death of Hayden Dutch Koch, born January 6th, 2009 in Overland Park, Kansas.

Hayden was a caring, outgoing and intelligent young girl with a playful sense of humor. She had a deep love for animals, large and small, and one day dreamed of becoming a veterinarian. She enjoyed playing with her cats, dogs and chickens. Hayden had an adventurous spirit, enjoying activities like paddleboarding in the ocean and swimming in Lone Star Lake. She was a loving daughter, sister, cousin and grandchild, and enjoyed spending time and playing games with her family. Hayden was also a loyal and compassionate friend to many, spreading joy everywhere she went.

She was an eighth grader at Bishop Seabury Academy, and previously attended elementary school in Baldwin, KS. Hayden’s favorite class was science, and outside of school she also played volleyball for the Lawrence Landsharks.

She is survived by her mother, Sarajane Scott, Lawrence, KS; her sister, Holden Zimmerman, New Haven, CT; her grandparents, Roger and Mary Ann Scott, Lawrence, KS; her aunt, Sherry Scott, Lawrence, KS and cousins Maia Tilly, Chicago, IL and Alayna Tilly, San Diego, CA; her aunt and uncle, Stacey and John Rinnert and cousins Megan and Gabe Rinnert, Lawrence, KS.

There will be a memorial service at Plymouth Congregational Church on Monday, December 19th at 10 AM.

In lieu of flowers, the family strongly asks that donations are sent to the following: Baldwin Recreation, Bishop Seabury Academy, Lawrence Humane Society, or Lawrence Landsharks, in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.
