Helen Tjaden

Helen Tjaden went into God’s hands on Saturday, October 22 at 4:00 am. She passed peacefully surrounded by the love of her family who were close by her during the final days. Helen was born October 23, 1915 to Owen and Fanny Hutchison in Wichita, Kansas. She was married to Wayne Tjaden. She worked for a time at Wichita Country Club. Her final years were spent at Pioneer Ridge Nursing Home in Lawrence, Kansas.

Helen is survived by: daughter Nancy Tjaden Hjetland Kunkel of Butler, Mo.; grandson Scott Hjetland and his wife Anne and their children Cooper and Rozalin of Lyons, Kansas; granddaughter Heather Hjetland Hughes and her husband George of Lawrence, Kansas; son Larry Tjaden of Shreveport, Louisiana and his children Marc and Brent; Sister-in-law Gladys Tjaden Cook of Wichita, and; Numerous nieces and nephews.

Helen was a kind and wonderful person who lived a devoted, positive life. She will be missed for a long time. Prior to cremation, Helen’s body has been donated to The University of Kansas’ Medical School for study. The family celebrated her life on October 23, 2016, her 101st birthday.
