Services for Howard James Pollock will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 31, 2024, at Grace Presbyterian Church (PCA) 3312 Calvin Dr. Lawrence, KS.  The family will greet friends prior to the service at the church.  A private family burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence.  Howard passed away on August 20, 2024, at Pioneer Ridge in Lawrence.

Howard was born June 8, 1955, in Tanta, Egypt the son of James W. and Rachel Buchannan Pollock. He grew up in Indiana and attended Indiana University earning a bachelor’s degree in English Literature and master’s degree in TESOL.

He was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church of America in Lawrence KS, since 1996.

Howard was a devoted husband to Dovis (Linda) Pollock for 46 years. During this time, they lived overseas in Brazil and Malaysia for several years raising 2 sons. Howard invested in international students as an instructor at KU and welcomed them into his family’s home for many years. He retired from the University of Kansas as a Language specialist in 2020.

In his spare time Howard enjoyed reading, doing word puzzles, traveling, and spending time with his family.

Linda survives in the home, residing in Lawrence, Kansas. Other survivors include his sons, Andrew Pollock, daughter-in-law Rachel S. Pollock and two grandchildren, Magnolia (8) and Fern (6), and Michael Pollock; and three sisters, Juanita Minor, Aida Pollock, and Lois Singletary.

The family suggest memorials in his name to The Navigators and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
