Memorial services for James Lee Mace, 68, of Lawrence, Kansas, will be held 3 p.m., Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Mr. Mace died Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at his home in Lawrence.
He was born April 19, 1943 in Rolla, Missouri. He moved to Lawrence in the late 1950’s.
James worked as a bartender for The Flamingo Club for over 45 years. He had also worked for the Lawrence Paper Company, Price’s appliance Repair, Steve’s Appliance Repair. He was a former member of the U.S. Army Reserves.
He was married to Vicci Evans on February 12, 1966 in Lawrence, Kansas. They later divorced. Vicci survives of Perry.
He is survived by one daughter, Marketa McKenzie of Allen, Texas. One daughter, Marsha Mace preceded him in death in 2006. Other survivors include four grandchildren, Lukas Mace, Brandon , Katelyn and Haidyn McKenzie all of Allen, Texas.
Following the memorial service, the family will greet friends, starting at 5 o’clock, at The Flamingo Club in North Lawrence. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Lawrence Humane Society and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
