James Terry

Funeral services for James Wendell Terry, 59, Baldwin City will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 3, 2026, at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. The family will greet friends prior to the service at the mortuary. Burial will be at Prairie City Cemetery, Baldwin City, KS.  A celebration of life will follow the burial at the Vinland Fairgrounds.  James died March 27, 2026, at LMH.

He was born June 18, 1966, in Overland Park, Kansas, the son of Wendell Terry and Marjorie Cron.

James graduated from Lawrence High School in 1985. He worked for the University of Kansas in maintenance for over 10 years, he then went to work for Martin-Marietta in De Soto where he worked for over 20 years. He lived to work. Loved his family and especially his grandchildren, loved to fish and enjoy the outdoors.

He is survived by his parents; two daughters, Ashley Terry and Rachael (Matthew) Michels; one son, Ryan Terry; two brothers, Kenneth Terry and Richard (Carma) Terry; grandchildren, Gatlin Khatchadourian, Gavin Khatchadourian, Piper Michels and Lane Michels many other relatives and friends.

The family suggests memorials in James’s name to LMH Oncology Center and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
